Store Street, just off Tottenham Court Road, is one of those London streets that you wouldn’t know about unless someone took you there. Cleverly, they have made a strip of the shops unify their fronts and has its own website, giving the area, which could have been just another random side street, a real community feel. One of the shops is Store Street Espresso, which is popular with students, tourists and local residents.

Coffee – 5/5
A great cappuccino and a good size. Fruity coffee with background notes of pecan were present. At £2.50, this was an absolute bargain.

Though it looks small from the outside, it’s actually quite large and airy when you get past the counter to the back area which is lit by large sky lights. The décor is white walls, rustic wooden benches and bare concrete floors, which is livened up by interesting and colourful prints hanging, clothes line style, along the walls. While it was mainly shared benches, there was a little comfy snug and some outdoor seating in the front.
Food – 2/4
Not a bad selection of salads, baked potatoes and quiches. However, the vanilla and coconut muffin I tried was dry and crumbly with the coconut seemingly shoved on top and not through the mixture, making it a total mess to eat.
Service – 3/3
No complaints here. Fast and efficient with the coffee well made and the food brought sharpish.
Extras -1/3
Only really the aforementioned prints , and I’m not even sure these were for sale.
Summary – 16/20
A great find serving some truly excellent coffee. If you’re being dragged around the shop of Tottenham Court Road, this is a great oasis of calm.
